Four-legged summer guests

Over the past few summers, we have been visited by an incredibly nice group of people. They are sociable, love food, and are dedicated to the cultural landscape day and night!

The sheep usually live with Anne and Harald Nisi in Gransherad. They have had experience that wild sheep move over large areas when they are on summer pasture in the mountains and have been more difficult to get hold of in the fall than domestic sheep. Here at Bolkesjø we would like to take back the cultural landscape, but we do not have our own animals. This was a great starting point for a collaboration, which has now lasted 4 years.

In the summer of 2020, a lamb was also born on pasture at Bolkesjø! No sheep have been born at Nigard Bolkesjø since the 1950s and it was a big event. Wild sheep usually cope well with lambing on their own.
