Sustainability and accommodation

On Bolkesjø Gaard We strive to minimize our own environmental footprint. We are committed to taking care of what is old and repairing it instead of buying new. The newest building on the farm is the barn from 1936, the rest of the buildings are all over 100 years old. Buildings and objects are adapted to today's needs.

The forest is an important part of the green shift. Both as a renewable resource that should be utilized through forestry, and through the biological diversity found in nature. Bjønnestille is the farm's own nature reserve, totaling 1417 daa. Outfield pastures are utilized by grazing animals and we manage old hay meadows to preserve biodiversity.

In the spring of 2023, we installed solar panels on the barn roof and we are co-owners of Follsjå kraft. In general, we strive for low consumption and value local raw materials such as fish, game, berries and mushrooms. Feel free to ask us if you would like tips for gathering.

To support sustainable tourism and limit your own environmental footprint, we ask that you as a guest book a minimum of two nights with us.
